Support the SPCA International!
www.SPCA.com
The mission of SPCA International is to raise
awareness of the abuse of animals to a global level, to teach and foster
good pet parenting practices, and to promote spay and neuter programs
around the world with the goal of eradicating the need to euthanize
healthy and adoptable companion animals.
SPCA International was founded in the United
States in 2006. One of SPCA International’s main goals is to use
their national platform to support independent shelters. The majority of
local SPCA's and Humane Societies around the world are not affiliated with
national organizations as most people presume. SPCA International
strives to assist and encourage these independent shelters through
alliance building, information networking and national and international
programs.
In 2007, SPCA International launched their first
major shelter initiative, Shelter of the Week. SPCA International
has since supported and honored more than 19 local shelters in need. In
the fall of 2007, SPCA International founded Operation Baghdad
Pups. This program assists soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan who
have befriended dogs and cats by providing safe transport of these
military mascots out of the war zone and back to the United States.
Currently, SPCA International is working to bring more than 25
animals out of the war zone to safe new homes.
Their Web site at
www.SPCA.com
provides a global information and referral resource to animal guardians
and advocates throughout the world to those who seek a shelter or wish to
adopt a shelter animal. SPCA International continually works to
improve the quality of life to animals all over the world through their
innovative programs. Help Spread the Word!

I Love
My FurBabies!
| Jim and Danny are brothers. I had the mom
and decided to keep these two from that litter. They were born in
2000. Toby was the runt of another litter of 9
kittens. I found homes for them all and decided to keep Toby
as I wasn't sure he would live. He grew strong and beat all the odds
and is my shadow where ever I go.. lol He plays fetch just like a
dog, returning the item right to my hand and ready for the next
go... he really wears me out.. lol Although he is the younger, born
in 2003, he is the alpha-male and lets nothing get by him.
Just recently we had a very bad cold spell where the temps got
below 0' degrees.. burrrrrrr I noticed a very small pure black
kitten on my porch earlier on that day crying to be let in. As we
got more snow, I felt so bad for it, that I brought it in and put
him in the spare room. He was between wild and loving.. boy can his
motor purr.. lol Thing is, he doesn't know how to play nicely and I
have had more scraps and cuts in a week then I have ever received
from any of my 3 cats put together. I think he has adopted me and
once I gave him a name, "Echo" I knew for sure he was the new
addition to the family. I guess his age at about 7 months and so
far, the cats have not really had a big fight, but they are all
leery of each other - he wants to play and they growl "leave me
alone" lol He is so off the walls, good thing he is easily
entertained.. lol Little does he know that a trip to the SPCA is in
the near future to be neutered ..lol |

The Secret Is Out. Spread the Word!
The Cove exposes the slaughter of more than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises
off the coast of Japan every year, and how their meat, containing toxic
levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan and other parts of Asia,
often labeled as whale meat. The majority of the world is not aware this
is happening. The focus of the Social Action Campaign for The Cove is to
create worldwide awareness of this annual practice as well as the dangers
of eating seafood contaminated with mercury and to pressure those in power
to put an end to the slaughter.
And it’s been working. The film has been making waves since it premiered
last year. Critical praise and audience awards worldwide have focused
international attention on Taiji and the annual dolphin drives off the
coast of Japan. Under intense pressure, Taiji called for a temporary ban
on killing bottlenose dolphins. The film, which was originally rejected,
was shown at the Tokyo Film Festival due to public outcry. Residents in
Taiji are being tested for mercury poisoning, and for the first time
Japanese media are covering the issue.
Close to a million people have signed on to the campaign, but this is just
the beginning. The fisherman are clearly rattled, but haven’t stopped
killing dolphins.
Take Part now to help shut down the cove for good.
My Comment that I sent in:
I am disgusted that this massacre goes on and is allowed in 2010. I was
horrified to see this show! I had been following "Whale
Wars" avidly and to see that again Japan is in the middle of this,
it's a global disgrace! How can we allow the senseless slaughter of these
beautiful and intelligent creatures? How can we support such a country? I
am so saddened. We do have a voice...Be united. Please shut down The Cove
and save millions of dolphins lives. I have to include the
whales too...
that war has gone on long enough. I am going to add this link to my site
and help spread the word.

Save the Whales! -
Whale Wars
The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has been striving to protect marine
wildlife since 1977. Each year, Captain Paul Watson has tried a variety of
different hard-line tactics in trying to eradicate whaling activities.
This year, in addition to the Steve Irwin, Sea Shepherd added the Bob
Barker and the Ady Gil to guard the seas and bolster their whale defense
campaign. And with changing technology, they've added new methods to their
arsenal of tactics to preserve the fragile ecosystems of our vast oceans
for generations to come. |
